The challenging fast paced 5K run. The long endurance run of the Newport Marathon. The 140.6 miles for the Ironman. I have participated in many races for over 10 years.
As an age grouper I have experienced the thrill of the podium during the speed of the sprint to the long endurance and sometimes seemingly impossible finish line crosses at IMLP in 2014 and again at IMMT in 2016.
I have enjoyed the challenges presented at the muddy and hilly Warrior Dash and the adventures of the Greenway Challenge with 2017 being my 10th year as the team Captain of Victorious Secrets.
Through it all I have lived, dreamed, experienced the endless hours of training and have also fallen victim to injury. Never wanting to give up but having to change goals due to injuries to my body that I didn’t want to face.
I understand the sports. I know what it takes to train. I know the heartbreaks of injury. All of these life experiences have led me down the path which I follow today.
As a graduate of Bancroft School of Massage, I hold certifications in Integrated Positional Therapy Level II, NeuroMuscular Therapy for the Lower Body, MyoFascial Release and Thai Table Massage. I used bits and pieces of each one of these during treatment that is specifically designed, just for you!
Each modality has given me different insights of the body, from muscle to tendons, joints, nerves and ligaments. Covering each part of the body I have found it amazing in so many ways. The body can heal itself in many situations and at other times it needs help. This is where Massage Therapy comes into play. Specifically at my practice, Sports Massage.
When someone wants a sports massage, it is a huge understanding and want from the client that the therapist understands their perspective in regards to their goal. That the therapist 'get's it'. The client has a goal and usually during training they now have noticed pain in their knee, or hip, or foot and they are hoping with massage, 'Sports Massage', it will get them back out on the road and training again.
I have seen the benefit of Massage Therapy which has helped me in so many ways during training. It has kept me healthy as well as it has helped me to recover from injuries such as hamstring pulls, shoulder issues, pain in my foot, hip, and glutes. Massage Therapy is simply amazing.
