I've always used my hands in creative ways. As a child, I spent countless hours drawing, painting, sculpting, or building all types of things with various materials. This led to informal as well as formal training in different mechanical trades which in turn evolved into career paths. The careers I followed allowed me to sharpen my skills as a technician but weren't fulfilling and didn't really resonate with me personally. In 2016, I decided to change my vocation to Massage Therapy. During my training, I learned to use my hands to "listen" to the client's body and "seek out" the aches, pains, and adhesions that were causing discomfort. Using touch to knead, press, pinch or smooth muscle tissue is very similar to sculpting with clay. I feel Massage is a creative collaboration between the client and the therapist. And when the client feels more at ease, less pain or discomfort, or less stressed, it's very rewarding and humbling to know I helped someone achieve that.
