My passions began around 1994 working in the Belk Heart Research Center in Charlotte, NC - I was the Admin to the Research Department, Dietician and Clinical Director. Back in the 90’s ladies with acrylic nails were not something you’d see a lot of, however the Clinical Director always had hot pink, flawlessly polished nails that I absolutely loved to see! I wanted to know how to make someone’s nails look that pretty. Too funny isn’t it? But that where my passion began in the first licensure I earned as a Nail Tech.

Around the year 2010 my family was struck with a horrible round of strep throat. My ex, myself and my daughter passed it around and around and after the THIRD time of me catching it, the doctor felt it was time to give me a steroid shot of Rocephin. One week after that injection I had a huge red spot on my right leg that looked like a dry, irritated patch of skin. He jotted in his notes “possible reaction to Rocephin, looks like Psorasis” - he told me it was bound to happen as its hereditary, but being so sick with strep for so long could have caused my body to become weak and this coming forth. (By the way, the culprit of strep was my infant son who had no symptoms, no fever yet was the carrier who passed it to all of us). My Psoriasis was angry and I had bright red polka dots all over my entire body and face! I felt traumatized and dressed like a Nun anytime I’d go out in public. I went through many meds, even PUVA treatments and nothing helped. I felt cursed with a plague of leprosy…that is how I felt! When you live with a disorder of any sort you become very tender hearted towards others living with disorders and I decided I wanted to become Licensed as an Esthetician solely so I could fix my skin disorder. Surely being a Skin Care Specialist I’d find the cure! Well, not exactly as there is no cure for Psoriasis, but now with two licenses, I realized I was becoming more valuable in the Spa industry.

In 2010 I was a single mom with my two kids and no clue how to support them on my own. Life was hard, but I knew I needed a career that would enable me to support them. I knew if I had that last license as a Massage Therapist then I could pretty much do everything- anywhere, so I worked during the day cleaning houses and went to school once again in the evenings, as child care was easier to find at night. Obtaining that last license allowed me to open my own Spa and provide all kinds of services now that I was triple licensed.

Sure enough my Spa became a huge success and life became easier as I was able to make ends meet for the first time as a single mom. My greatest job before owning my own Spa was working at The Chattanoogan in a time when it was operated by ISM and the greatest products and protocols were taught to me there. The team was amazing, the leadership was amazing, the atmosphere - one in which I still replicate in my Spa today….the wall of lights came from this Spa. It was there I fell in love with Spa and all things pampering and Fluff as I always say was now my objective as I created my own business. Diane Wellmen was my role model as a Professional and friend, ISM was my model of how to give the red carpet treatment to Spa guests and the HR members were the ones who made me feel valuable enough to do it all! I’ll forever be grateful for my training I had there.

As we know life can take its twists and turns and we all end up in a place we never thought we’d be…that is me, that is now. I am blessed beyond measure with the clientele I have. Most have been with me in my entire journey since I moved to Tennesse in 2010 then Georgia in 2016. I officially closed my Spa in October of 2020 when the Pandemic hit and I had to close under State laws for Quarantine. Financially I couldn’t make a come back from shutting my doors. I decided it was time to let it go and take a leap of faith and work from home. No clue how many clients would follow me working from a tiny apartment, but enough did that allows me to pay my bills and make ends meet. For this I am forever grateful.

That is my story. Thanks for reading it and thanks mostly for allowing ME to be YOUR therapist! I can promise you this…when you come for a service, you’ll have ALL of me, all of my heart and devotion and I’ll do everything in my power to pamper you to the max and make you leave feeling refreshed, relaxed and loved! I can’t wait to see you soon so hurry up and book your next appointment! God bless you!
