Fascinated with the human body and how it works, Marly is a self-proclaimed anatomy and physiology nerd who believes that accurate and up-to-date knowledge is just as important as impeccable technique. After graduating from the Cortiva Institute in 2009, she pursued further education in orthopedic massage, deep-tissue massage, sports massage, fitness (she's a certified personal trainer), and postural assessment. She is also an enthusiastic problem-solver, determined to get answers and results, and a bicycle lover. All of which is reflected in her business name, Body Truing Massage Therapy. “True”—used as a verb, mainly in construction and bicycle maintenance—means to make level, square, balanced, or concentric; to bring or restore a desired mechanical accuracy or alignment. In this sense, it can just as easily apply to bodywork. Just as a bicycle wheel needs to be aligned, or trued, after wear and tear experienced on the road or trail, so does the human body. Marly’s mission is to do just that with each of her clients. She excels at treating active individuals and athletes with therapeutic and sports massage to aid in injury prevention, rehabilitation, and elimination of pain. Using postural assessments and her extensive knowledge of human anatomy and kinesiology, Marly can see each muscle that is contributing to a problem and create an effective plan to bring the body back to its natural balance. "I regard the human body as the most important tool and asset we have. Much like an auto or bicycle mechanic assess and fixes cars, I work with each client to get their most important asset working to their fullest advantage! While the human body is composed of all the same stuff, each person has lived in their body with a unique set of experiences. Often times unraveling pain and dysfunction in the body is about learning each individual’s history and finding their unique balance and alignment." When she’s not working, Marly enjoys cycling, gardening, and staying abreast of the latest research with magazines like Scientific American Mind.
