My first experiences with Massage Therapy was when I was 14 years old. A friend of mine was in a terrible car accident that affected her back. She was seeing a Chiropractor regularly, and they suggested she start getting Massage as well. I went with her to one of her appointments out of curiosity. I knew about Massage, and I was interested by it. My friend said it was okay if I sat in with her during her session. I was just blown away by how relaxing it was, my friend actually fell asleep. After the Therapist was done she motioned for me to come out of the room with her, and she described that my friend needed to rest a little after the treatment. After that I would read any books or watch any movies about Massage Therapy I could get my hands on. A few years later, my cousin finished school for Massage Therapy in Canada, and she gave me a massage. It was then that I knew what I wanted to do with the rest of my life.

I was trained in Colorado at Intellitec College where I completed a 960 hour program that included focused training in Deep Tissue, Neuromuscular Therapy, and Therapeutic massage. I received the highest honors in the study of Kinesiology and Pathology and maintained a 4.0 grade point average. I have done Bodywork in Colorado, Michigan, and Illinois (#227.011842). I also taught at a Massage Therapy School in Bay City, Michigan. I have been an active member of the Massage Therapy professional community in Portland, Oregon since 2012. I am continuously looking to further my education in the medical and health and wellness field.

I fully believe that Massage Therapy is a perfect alternative to medications for pain relief and management. My knowledge and experience has proved to me that relief is possible for many chemically dependent sufferers in America. I am currently working with some insurance boards in Portland to help educate other medical professionals on the benefit that Massage Therapy can offer their patients. I've made it my goal to educate my clients about wellness, and the importance of self-care. I am also committed to making the Massage Profession an accepted and respected form of medical care for the management of pain and stress. I opened Serenity Bodywork in 2014 because I believe Western and Eastern Medicine blend well together, and my dream is that one day Serenity Bodywork will be a reflection of that belief. Blending Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine, Physical Therapy, Massage, Chiropractic and Internal Medicine.
