I have always known that I wanted to be a massage therapist. I can remember when I was growing up sitting behind my mothers' back massaging her shoulders and brushing her hair. I would often have my cousins ask me to walk on their back and give them back massages. They would tell me how I had magical hands. As I grew older and had children this energy shifted as I became a mother. I made it a ritual every night to massage my babies. It would soothe their tummies and relax them for bed. I know...
I know it had a profound and positive effect on there physical and emotional development and to this day they still ask for and receive massage frequently.
Fast forward to 2013 where I enrolled in the year long massage therapy program at Irene's Myomassology Institute in Southfield. Here I felt at home. I was finally embracing what I now feel is one of my life purposes on this Earth, to help people through massage. The year flew by with ease and I graduated in June of 2014.
While at Irene's I studied anatomy, physiology, pathology and elective
courses that included elder massage, Thai-Ayurvedic, polarity, lymph
drainage, cranial sacral therapy, hot stones, reflexology, myofascial
anatomy trains and musculoskeletal disfunction interpretation and
assessment. I am also currently apprenticing in the June hands on class.
Having had past experiences working in the service industry as a waitress and client service coordinator in the post production industy, I know how stressful these job can be and the toll it can take on the body. I am happy to share my knowledge and massage skills to service professionals so that they can take time to serve themselves through massage.
I believe that the body can heal itself and it is through this belief that I provide solutions to my clients about their physical stresses that help encourage the body to return to its natural healing rhythm.
