I started out with a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science. I always knew I wanted to help people through the health industry, it was just a matter of finding the right fit. After my third year at college, I had the opportunity to go to Kenya to work with a school for disabled children. Under the care of the physical therapy team, I was able to work with the children, mostly doing massage work to warm the muscles before their exercises and help prevent contractures. After this trip I knew that a career in massage therapy was how I was going to help others. I graduated college in spring of 2015 and continued my education in the health field by attending Fortis Institute for Massage Therapy the following fall. This program taught me so much about myself as well as how I can positively affect the lives of others, whether they simply need the opportunity to relax or need help with a more serious condition. I am looking forward to learning more about massage as my career in massage therapy continues to grow. One of the things I love about massage therapy is that there are so many waits to help heal the body, whether through a relaxing Swedish massage, or a problem solving deep tissue session.
