Growing up as an athlete and constantly putting external pressure on my body without the proper recovery led me to many years of pain and discomfort. I thought that it was normal because no one explained to me the purpose of a strong, functional foundation in addition to proper recovery regimens: stretching, massage, nutrition, etc. Being a personal trainer and a massage therapy allows me to identify causes of pain and discomfort and help reduce whats causing those issues. A proper fitness program design is created to strengthen the weaker, underactive muscles while stretching and reducing tone in the potentially stronger, overactive muscles. Just because a muscle may be hypertonic or overactive, doesn't necessarily make it a stronger muscle. A body is only as strong as its weakest muscle.

Through massage, I am able to better assist in reducing hypertonicity. Many instances, pain is due to a muscle(s) or fascia compressing on a joint, bone, muscle, or nerve. After much study and research, I came to my own opinion that fascia in addition to muscle imbalances are causing much of the populations pain today. Fascia is supposed to move freely, not in unison with other surrounding structures (superficial skin or muscles). If you release fascia in addition to hypertonic muscles, you will free up tension and be able to move more freely and functionally.

Training correctly, eating well, and following my recovery regimen has made a world of a difference.
