The drive to learn more about how our body functions as a whole has lead me to start studying with the Barral Institute in Visceral Manipulation. It has been an eye opening experience to delve into the cavities of the body and the intricate connective tissue (fascial) integration of all the systems in our body.
Practice of Neuromuscular Therapy from 1995 to 2011 with an emphasis on sports massage and pain relief. I worked with individual Packer players over the years and enjoyed a full time practice by referral only. Now that business has evolved into Precision Bodywork Institute in Green Bay, WI. We are in association with Bay Area Yoga - Mindful Movement and Yoga Center.
Doug Nelson is the founder of PNMT and in the years following gaining my massage therapy license, I continued to study with Doug and his staff to gain certification. I believe whole heartedly in teaching critical thinking and assessment skills that are informed by current research along with extensive clinical experience. Now I am excited to be one of his staff, continuing to assist in up-leveling massage therapists throughout the nation.
My alma mater, Blue Sky School of Professional Massage, asked me to teach for them following my completion of their program. Since starting in 1996, I have had the honor of teaching primary massage education to 100s of individuals in 6 major institutions. My dedication to making anatomy, physiology, kinesiology & biomechanics more comprehendable to massage therapists, yoga instructors & consumers continues to be a high priority.
In the earliest years of my professional career, at age 12, I taught dance classes and choreographed professionally for 6 years. After my dance career, I wanted to keep my movement 'tuned up', utilizing yoga to do so. The training to deepen my practice came years later and has become a strong component of my treatment sessions and personal practice.
