Education

Katherine Nelson has always been passionate about the therapeutic effects of body work and began her training in massage therapy in 2004 with Pheobe Diftler at White Lotus Foundation in Santa Barbara, CA. She studied Thai Yoga Therapy (Thai Massage) earning a certificate of completion equivalent to in-depth courses taught in Thailand. Also interested in Ayurveda, Katherine continued her studies in Canada learning Heated Stone Abyhanga, Pinda Sweda and Indian Head Massage. Her desire to continue learning more techniques inspired her to enroll in the Massage Therapy Program at Healing Hands School of Holistic Health in Southern California. Over the course of almost two years Katherine graduated from Healing Hands in April 2016 and is currently working out of her home studio on 13th and State in Skagway, Alaska. Katherine continues to regularly seek education in her field and has completed the Secrets of Deep Tissue with Robert Hasse and is certified in intraoral massage to treat TMJ disorders. Katherine is a member of ABMP and licensed to practice in the state of Alaska #115588. Katherine is also a certified 500 E-RYT Yoga Teacher with 19 years of teaching experience and offers private sessions for developing personal home yoga practices to reduce stress and tension and correct unbalanced holding patterns in the body. Katherine’s teachers include Sivananda, Judith Hanson Lasater, Donna Farhi, Ganga White, Stephanie Adams, Adi Vajra, Maty Ezraty, Eddie Modestini, Gary Kraftsow, Brian Kest, SarahJoy, Beth Smith, Janet Stone, and Bernie Clark.

Always a great experience with Katherine. My body feels so amazing after each session. I go into these massages with a torn up body from 2 labor intensive jobs and I leave rejuvenated without pain!
