My name is Kasey Coleman. I am an Osteopathic Manual Practictioner and Licensed Massage Therapist, certified in Neuromuscular Therapy. I have been licensed and practicing for 5 years and have worked everywhere from PiP-based medical centers that worked on patients in car accidents, to chiropractoric centers, chinese medicine doctors, and even organic hollistic spas. My education and broad experience over many spectrums has all helped me learn more about the somatic systems of the body and how many different factors effect the healing response. For example, working at spas vs medical centers, I learned a lot about the acute stress response, better known as the "fight-or-flight" response in the body. When you are nervous, stressed out, or feeling anxious about your therapy session, your body triggers this response. It increases your blood pressure, heart rate, breathing rate, and decreases blood flow to your muscles. Trying to do manual muscle work while your body is fighting back is not conducive to healing and can potentially cause more damage to the area. When you are in a relaxed, calm, and malleable state where you feel safe and not judged your body subconsciously releases endorphins that are proven to aid the bodies healing ability. This is why I strive to create a relaxing environment and only perform safe, highly effective, yet gentle manual therapies. You can put your trust in me knowing you are in skilled, experienced hands.
