Hello, my name is Irene Ammar and I offer kindhearted, medically-informed bodywork in Santa Rosa, California. I specialize in oncology massage and gentle bodywork to support you during illness or chronic symptoms.

Into this work I bring not only my Western training in anatomy, physiology and pathology, but also thorough apprenticeship in incorporating principles of Chinese Medicine and working with my hands on the acupuncture points in order to support your body to do its own healing and recovery. I am also a Certified Manual Lymph Drainage Therapist, and so I work clinically with the lymphatic system, and especially lymphatic compromise, such as lymphedema.

I came to be a massage therapist after pursuing a path in somatic psychotherapy, and so I consider presence and compassion to be the heart of my bodywork practice. I love what I do, and I find it very precious to walk alongside people, especially during difficult seasons of their lives.

Although I work with many people who have diagnoses, my work also lends itself to wellness for those seeking more balance with body, mind, and spirit. I also love to offer sessions to support pregnancy.

My training is from the Massage Therapy Institute in Davis, California, from the Klose Institute of Lymphedema Training, and from personal mentorship with Isabel Adkins, one of the trailblazers in the field of oncology massage and integrative East-West bodywork for illness. I am a lifelong learner and always deepening my understanding, especially of Chinese Medicine, which has so much to offer us.
