My name is Mary E. Dennis. I am a dedicated healing arts practitioner. For the past 19 years, I have been offering integrated somatic therapies and health education to clients in a private practice. Each bodywork session is individualized based on what I assess during the massage session. The peaceful energy of a shiatsu massage can soften and unlock areas of tension. The subtle yet profound effects of Craniosacral work allow the body to find a more balanced state. The warmth of heated basalt stones allow muscles to relax and increase the flow of fresh blood to constricted muscles groups. In most massage sessions, a variety of techniques and modalities are used to best address your needs. As a health educator, I look at the whole person and offer anything from stretches, dietary suggestions, to workstation body mechanics as a way to help clients maintain a sense of well being for body and mind. I am also a trained doula and have been fortunate to work with many expectant mothers and babies, offering massage and craniosacral work to both. Whether the massage session is 60 minutes or 120minutes, I bring years of experience and knowledge on how to allow the body to realign and re-energize itself.

Since 1998, I have been practicing Craniosacral work in the tradition of Dr. Upledger. This work has increased my respect for subtle touch therapies and how the body responds to different kinds of touch. In my years working with various injuries, and conditions, balancing gross manipulation and subtle touch has proven invaluable and effective.
My training with Mary Nelson of LaStone Therapy, completely changed my practice. I rarely ever have a session where I do not use my stones. They have become my bodywork partners. The soothing heat from the stones function as another pair of hands and the cold stones, when necessary calm an area down faster than any technique I have found. The stones add another dimension to the bodywork that is difficult to describe. Most clients just say they feel comforting and healing.
I maintained a thriving private practice in Pacifica,Ca for 15 years. I specialized in Pregnancy massage and integrated bodywork. After having my second child I decided to scale down my practice and move closer to home. My years in private practice allowed me to deepen my understanding of the body mind connection and how each of of finds balance and peace in our own unique ways.
I worked along side a chiropractor for one year at the beginning of my massage career. I learned how a chiropractor approaches the body and sees structural imbalance. Learning to see and feel the close relationship between soft tissue and bone structure was invaluable .
After several years of working on expectant mothers and thoroughly enjoying the energy and excitement of such a major life change, I decided to begin my doula training. As I started my training, I found out I was pregnant . I was able to support and witness several births before I gave birth to my very own bundle of wonder. It quickly became clear to me though that I could not be a doula and a new mom. Once I returned to work, I continued offering pregnancy and infant massage but no doula services. Someday I hope to offer doula services again, for now, I enjoy every pregnant client I have the honor of working with.
