I am thirty-six and originally from Washington D.C. and I have five beautiful sisters and two wonderful brothers. I am the youngest child; although my siblings are successful in their own right, I am the first in the immediate family to have graduated college and to have received a graduates degree. My mother was a very loving individual and she raised me to be just as caring and considerate of others, I believe that I am a reflection of my mother as well as my siblings.
At the age of thirteen I lost my best friend; my mother died of an aneurism. My sister Valerie and brother-in-law Tyrone, took me under their household in Los Angeles. They provided a wonderful and supportive family structure and through them I learned how to become a more responsible individual. Although, it was difficult adjusting to the expectations they had for me at first, I am much more of the person I am because of their influence in my life.
Education
After graduating from high school in Los Angeles, I attended Seaver College at Pepperdine University. Pepperdine was the most influential experience of my adult life. It was here that I first really learned about massage from classmates as method for relaxation and reducing stress. During choir rehearsal we would offer massage during warm-ups. At the time, I didn’t realize that I had received “the call” then.
After graduating from Pepperdine University in 1998, I moved to San Francisco to pursue graduate studies at Golden Gate University. I earned my M.A. in Applied Psychology (emphasis on Industrial/Organizational Psychology) & a graduate certificate in Conflict Resolution in 2002. Still ignoring “the call”, It was at this time that I felt satisfied with the level of education I had received. Fortunately, I was wrong.
In March 2012 and after having no success with finding sustainable work, I bit the bullet and answered “the Call.” I enrolled into National Holistic Institute in San Francisco, CA. It was here that I realized that I am gifted with an intuitive touch. After so many years of trying the perfect job, I found it. Work that really made a difference and work that I love. So for the following eight months I learned many massage modalities and found a way to really fine tune my skill and decide how I wanted to share my gift with the world. I graduated from National Holistic Institute with a Certificate in Massage Therapy and Health Education, I was recognized with a Letter of Excellence in both Western & Eastern Segments with a cumulative GPA of 3.9. I also received a service award for tutoring and assisting schoolmates. I plan to take continue education courses in Reflexology, Myofascial release, and Aromatherapy.CA # 41294
