Massage has been a part of my life since I was a baby. My father has done massage and bodywork for over 30 years. While there are stories of me as a toddler running naked into rooms (regardless of who else was present) to ask my dad for a massage, I started learning about giving massage in high school.
My dad started teaching me and my friends about self care and massage techniques. Eventually, I went away to college and graduated, but became incredibly unhappy with the career path I was on. I moved to Boulder, Colorado, and spent a year and a half completing an over 1000 hour massage program at the Boulder College of Massage Therapy (BCMT), one of the longest curricula available.
I returned home to Vermont after graduating with honors from BCMT, and started a private practice. Through a series of connections, I met my wife, who was born and raised in Sacramento, and I made the transition to California living. I first moved to the Bay area and worked at an elite sports massage clinic in SoMa. After almost two years in the Bay area, my wife and I bought a home in Sacramento and I relocated my private practice to the Arden area.
I specialize in deep tissue, sports, and orthopedic massage therapy. That is to say, I enjoy working on dysfunction and pain and helping my clients move toward a more productive and pain free life. I work with injuries, preparation for and recovery from athletic events, and chronic or recurring pain. I am especially good at working on the head, neck, shoulders, and back, including head aches, and neuropathy.
On my down time, I like to play Ultimate Frisbee,Table Tennis, Settlers of Catan, and Agricola. I'm currently reading George R.R. Martin's Fire and Ice series.
