Althea Cervantes

Smile, breathe and go slowly.

I am a mother, partner, yogi, mentor, teacher, and friend.  For me, yoga is a guide for life - not about postures and chanting, but about the ways in which I relate to myself and to others around me.  I have a degree in nursing and public health, and certifications and extensive experience as a yoga teacher and yoga therapist.  I am honored to be on the path with those who seek self-transformation this process, both on and off the yoga mat.

Yoga Teacher

Since 1999, I have been teaching group yoga classes at local fitness centers, yoga studios and corporations. I have also been a presenter on various topics related to the yoga practice, for teachers, yoga teacher trainings, and health professionals. I am a certified continuing education provider for the Yoga Alliance.

Founder of AltheaYoga

I started my private yoga therapy practice, AltheaYoga, in 2000. I have been providing individualized yoga therapy services for the past 16 years. I receive referrals from local physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, psychotherapists, and bodyworkers, as well as self-referrals (those who find me through my website, word of mouth, or google). In addition, I offer yoga retreats several times a year, both locally and internationally. Information about these retreats are on my website, www.AltheaYoga.com.

Health Psychology Sacramento - Head Yoga Therapist

I work privately with clinic clients who suffer from chronic pain, trauma, anxiety, depression, addiction, and other psychological and emotional struggles, providing yoga therapy and counseling.
