There are few things that are as rewarding or as fulfilling as helping a person in need. That is why I became a massage therapist in the first place.
I acted as a caregiver to my elderly grandparents for many years and found that the techniques I used to calm or reduce pain could be transferred to a profession where that was the job description. By helping others learn what it feels like again to be without pain or stress, I help them learn to retake control of their body and mind from the race we all participate in daily.
In a massage session, awareness is brought back to the body through touch, allowing the bodymind to orient itself to its place in time and space. Through this awareness, the bodymind becomes aware of areas that have been overworked or ignored and feels safe enough to let it all go. The effects of this are reduced tension, greater flexibility, reduced or eliminated pain, a sense of contentment, and much more. Each time the body experiences this state, it becomes more and more ingrained until eventually it is habit.
Through exposure to massage, through taking much needed time for yourself and your needs, you will take control of your life again.
