Hello,
I am Aubrey Marett, a certified Medical Massage Practitioner. From an early
age, as a competitive swimmer, I became very aware of the important balance
between pushing my body to challenging limits, and then giving it time to heal
and rejuvenate. I was involved in several serious car accidents and had to
undergo severe fracture reconstruction surgeries. I learned all too fast that
setbacks happen, but they don’t have to hinder us from moving forward. My
career as a therapist soon became much more about pain relief than relaxation. Reteaching
myself to walk three times, taught me just how important correct alignment is
in the long run and how fast falling into repetitive ergonomic patterns can
hinder our healing process. Being an athlete myself I work with many exercise
enthusiasts and have chosen to specialize in injury recovery. More specifically
with metal implants, artificial bone replacements and prosthetic joint implants.
Still having metal myself, I personally understand the long term effects of how
foreign hardware in the body can feel stiff, achy and limits mobility. In
combination massage, stretching and aquatic therapy helps me power through.
I
have had the privilege to work with the Carolina Ballet dancers, before and
after big performances such as Nutcracker and Cinderella! Sometimes mentally
recovering from anything traumatic can be the toughest part. I do not diagnose;
I will on the other hand listen first, share first-hand knowledge and help you
develop the best approach for an achievable treatment plan. I look forward to
helping you experience a higher quality of life!
