I began massage in 2009 after graduating from Potomac Massage Training Institute in Washington DC. I moved here from Maryland in 2015 and am excited to join you at the Cascade 205 Athletic Club. I know that health is one of our “greatest wealths” and that we can agree, self-care is an important part of maintaining your best self. Studies of the benefits of massage demonstrate that it is an effective treatment for reducing stress, pain and muscle tension. Beyond the benefits for specific conditions or diseases, some people enjoy massage because it often produces feelings of caring, comfort and connection. Through massage therapy I have experienced greater health and well-being, and I hope to share this opportunity with you. My goal is to meet your needs for bodywork: to help you find relaxation, stimulate health and recovery, manage and eliminate pain, increase your range of motion and flexibility, and more. I invite you to join me on this wonderful journey of healing.

Deep tissue massage does not mean pressure so hard that it hurts. Firm pressure and slow strokes are used to reach deeper layers of muscle. This breaks up scar tissue and muscle "knots" or adhesions of rigid tissue, allowing for better circulation and range of motion.
Myofascial tissue is continuous in the body as it interweaves and wraps muscles, and every division of tissue within the muscle. Where there is chronic or acute pain, limited or difficult range of motion, ongoing stress and tension, there is almost always myofascial tissue which needs to be released and relaxed.
Swedish massage is the most common technique. (In case you were wondering, Swedish massage is called “classic massage” in Sweden.) It focuses on overall relaxation, circulation, and physical and mental wellness. A Swedish massage is one of the best ways raise "feel good" hormones like serotonin, a calming hormone, as well as oxytocin.
Safe in any trimester and a healthy way to encourages blood and lymph circulation, reduce stress and promote overall wellness. Massage relieves many of the normal discomforts experienced during pregnancy, such as backaches, stiff neck, leg cramps, and headaches.
A trigger point is a tight area within muscle tissue that may refer pain to other parts of the body. A trigger point in the back, for example, may produce referral pain in the neck. The pain may be sharp and intense or a dull ache. Using isolated pressure and release on the spot, while you actively participate through deep breathing as well as identifying the exact location and intensity of the discomfort, we can release the trigger.
