Claire helps people restore both mind and body through massage work and body awareness. She guides her clients in reconnecting with their intrinsic ability to move and experience joy in their bodies. She is a passionate and skilled partner to her clients, with a special interest in supporting women through all stages of motherhood. Claire utilizes a variety of techniques in her custom bodywork sessions including Swedish, Deep Tissue, Trigger Point Therapy, Active/Passive Stretching and Fascial work.
Claire
received her massage training and license through Ashmead College in 2009.
Since then she has continued to build her knowledge and understanding of the
body through self-study and continuing education courses including movement and
structural bodywork, postural assessments, dynamic stretching and
prenatal/postpartum massage. Claire has completed a Sports Massage
Certification as well as a Pre and Perinatal Massage Certification. She also
holds a Bachelor of Science in Physical Activity and Exercise.
From
a young age Claire knew how important movement was for the mind and body,
living an active lifestyle and participating in a variety of sports. However,
it wasn’t until a lower back injury put a stop to her active lifestyle that she
began to see how important natural and functional movement are, not only for
injury/pain recovery but also injury prevention and overall health. Claire,
while now relatively pain and restriction free, continues to work on not only
learning about alignment and natural movement but incorporating them into her
life. She is currently studying to become a Restorative Exercise Specialist
through Katy Bowman’s teachings at the Restorative Exercise Institute.
When
not working with clients or curled up with blankets and a book Claire can be
found outside. Either walking around Portland neighborhoods, hiking in Forest
Park or swinging from monkey bars. She is also working on her artistic ability
and playing around with watercolors, acrylic paint and coloring (mostly in the
lines!)
Claire
greatly enjoys her work and hobbies and believes that health and movement are a
lifestyle worth embracing. She believes it takes a tribe to connect with and
heal ones self and looks forward to being a part of her client’s journey
towards health and balance.
