As a lifelong athlete, Amy Homsi first felt the benefits from massage in her early 20s. “Massage has gotten me through many years of triathlon training and even an Ironman,” she says. She studied massage after having two children, and graduated from the East West College of the Healing Arts in 2004. What started out as a temporary job with flexible hours for a mother of two young girls has turned into a career she loves.

Amy has 20 years of experience working as a Portland massage therapist for chiropractors and is well versed in pain management as well as therapeutic massage. “I love to help others heal, and work with people who are always happy to see me when they walk in the door,” she says.

Her passion is sports massage which stems from her own competitive background of doing triathlons (of all distances) and running marathons. Amy herself continues to participate in other vigorous sport as well, such as cross fit and kickboxing. She has discovered firsthand that nothing beats a good weekly massage to sooth and smooth her tired, achy muscles.

Amy very much understands the stress the body undergoes while training for sporting events. Massage therapy is a very important part of the training (and recovery) process for endurance athletes. She says, “I prefer to give deeper, therapeutic and sports massages, as I understand what the body needs during periods of rigorous training (and recovery).”

Amy is skilled in deep tissue massage, therapeutic massage, sports massage–pre and post event, pregnancy massage, myofascial release, and motor vehicle rehabilitation.

Amy is the best. She listens to you and then gets right after the areas you described as bothering you. She is a pro and at the same time very relaxed and friendly.

Amy always begins by asking about my body and adapts to the requested pressure, speed, and location of need. I depart each appointment relaxed and rejuvenated. Although a 90-minute massage is a luxury, it is so worth it.

Amy is very skilled. If you have aching muscles point these out ahead of time so extra attention can be applied to these areas. Try cupimg or scraping if you need extra attention.
