After becoming attuned to Reiki years ago, I've continued my studies into the history and lineages of this fantastic healing art. There are many beliefs and opinions about the origins and "correct" way(s) of teaching Reiki - as with anything passed down through time, changes occur for better or worse.  I strive to follow Mikao Usui's ideals and methodologies as authentically as possible, but I also use methods and techniques that I feel enhance Reiki for myself, my clients and my students.  Being clear about the differences between traditional Usui Reiki Ryoho, as it is known, and other systems such as Tibetan Reiki or Raku-kei, preserves Dr. Usui's legacy and the respect we have for his practices while allowing it to grow.  As it was Dr. Usui's desire that Reiki be allowed to spread around the world, I believe that he approves of this approach.
