Marieta “Marty” Cartwright, LMP is Kitsap County’s premier blind Massage Therapist. Offering massage since 2009, Marty has the experience necessary to work with clients of all ages. Not only was she the first blind Massage Therapist to graduate from the Everest College in Bremerton, Washington in 2008, she is also the proud recipient of the “Catch A Dream” award for the Pacific Northwest.
Specializing in Deep Tissue Massage, Marty offers her clients therapeutic massage that will address mobility issues. She helps her client regain flexibility and ease of movement in feet, ankles, knees, hips, shoulder, arms and neck. By sharing stretches to do at home, therapeutic massage and nutritional helpful hints, Marty helps her clients reclaim health and wellness. Her strong but sensitive touch combines, years of experience, continued education and a splash of intuition. “I rely on my hands to give me information that others might miss because they rely on visual cues.”
While Deep Tissue Massage is her specialty, Intuitive Relaxation Massage is her passion. “Sometimes people just need to come in and get a massage that wipes away the stress and tension of daily life”. This gentle type of massage has as much benefit for a client as a Deep Tissue Massage. Stress lowers our immune system leaving us susceptible to germ, bacteria and viruses that we encounter everyday. Chronic stress can be harmful and lead to depression. When you take steps to reduce your stress you are taking steps to reduce your chances of illness, emotional turmoil and fatigue. Relaxation massage is one of the best ways to release toxins stored in the body due to stress.
Marty also offers a range of other services. Aromatherapy Massage, Chair Massage, Head, Foot and Hand Massage, Pregnancy Massage and Therapeutic Massage specifically formulated for Senior Citizens. Many clients have come to her after having been in an automotive accident. Whiplash, strains and sprains are all treatable with massage therapy. Best of all, PIP will cover it all when you have a medical prescription.
Before Marty lost her vision, she made her living in construction. She understands body mechanics and how grueling the construction field can be. Her practical knowledge comes in handy when working with those who live and work physically demanding lives. She also understands the need and desire to return to an active lifestyle after injury. “My goal is to help individuals return to their normal lifestyle as quickly and safely as possible. No one likes to stay off their feet longer than they need to.”
Marty and her guide dog Jewel are always interested in meeting new people. “The nice thing about having a blind Massage Therapist is that people can relax about their body image with me. While I do offer “clothes on” massage, I won’t accidentally see more than a client is comfortable with if a sheet goes slightly askew.” Call today to make an appointment with Marty for a FULL hour massage. “When you book an hour massage with me, you get 60 minutes of massage work”. Book now by calling 360-840-6064 or stop by the office at 3280 SE Lund Ave, Suite 9 in Port Orchard, Washington.
