Jake began a journey almost 30 years ago to help people with their aches, pain, and trauma while resting between beach volleyball games at Montrose Beach on Lake Michigan in Chicago. He intuitively knew where to massage his friends’ shoulders and backs. His friends always commented that he found the right place.
Overuse injuries from volleyball sidelined Jake and he sought massage for aches and pain and took up yoga to improve balance, suppleness, and strength. Following the example of his yogi master he went to massage school where he learned that his knack to “map the tension lines within the body” was actually an ability to read the fascia. There he stumbled upon the Upledger Institute where he learned CranioSacral Therapy. CST refined Jake’s natural talent of finding and following fascial restrictions and facilitating their release.
In 2006 Jake set up private practice near Kansas City. He relocated to Minneapolis in 2010 to be closer to family and snow. He currently practices in three locations in Plymouth and Maple Grove. Jake is Board Certified in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork with the NCBTMB and an ABMP Certified Massage Therapist.
Jake loves to learn and teach. He enjoys taking classes developed by Dr. John Upledger and Dr. Jean-Pierre Barral about the brain and nerves. He teacher assists at least one Upledger CranioSacral Therapy class per year. In 2018 he’s TA’ing two classes and attending two classes as a student. His curiosity guides him to find connections and relationships in non-traditional methods to facilitate his clients’ healing.
