If getting older has taught me anything, it’s that caring for ourselves isn’t always about doing more. Most times, it’s about finding the people who help us feel safe enough to finally let our bodies (and minds) relax. I had my first real massage with Doreen, and now I understand why people say she’s better than chocolate. Walking in, there was already a sense of calm waiting for me: soft lighting, gentle sounds, lovely smells, warmth, and crisp clean sheets... The kind of space that makes you feel like you can put down the heavy things you've been carrying. For context: My body is not a simple one. I have Marfan syndrome, scoliosis, a herniated disc, degeneration, a deformed ribcage, delicate muscles, and I’m still healing from brain surgery. Trusting someone with all that can make me feel vulnerable. But what stood out most wasn't just Doreen’s knowledge, it was the way she listened and treated every ache and concern with care and intention. I truly felt cared for and found relief in places I didn’t realize I was holding tension. Doreen truly creates healing spaces, and what a gift it is to know her.
