Jessica understands massage as an integral part to everyone’s preventative and complimentary health care practice. Her particular area of interest is how massage engages our rest and digest (parasympathetic nervous system) response to allow our bodies to heal themselves. An accomplished artist and animal lover, in 2014 Jessica received her certification in Ashtanga and Yin yoga, which jump started her into the path of natural healing. She later went on to become certified in massage therapy and has worked in Chicago area hotel spas, chiropractic clinics, and mobile massage companies before relocating back to California. Jessica currently works at Piedmont Spa and works with Basic Kneads / East Bay. Jessica’s modalities include: Swedish relaxation, prenatal, assisted stretch, trigger point, myofascial, deep tissue, and reflexology. She enjoys working with a wide range of clients including but not limited to those with MS, Parkinson’s, anxiety and stress, digestive issues, problems sleeping, headaches, elderly clients, athletes, those recovering from injuries, and more. She offers a safe space for LGBTQ community members. Jessica’s highest priority is to understand the very specific needs of each client, and to make them feel that they’ve had the best massage experience possible. She is a lifelong learner and continually adds new massage techniques and skills to her repertoire. She is so happy to be working with Basic Kneads / East Bay and looks forward to working with new and regular clients.

During my time with Windy City Massage in Chicago, IL we had a client who booked me quite frequently for teacher days at the public schools. I was able to see a wide range of clients at these schools and offer them relief through chair massage. I found working with teachers and administration to be especially rewarding considering all of the hard work they do day to day for these kids.
I spent four months interning at the Wellfit Triathlete training facility in Chicago, IL working on the athletes. They would have specific muscle groups needing work with PNF, assisted stretch, and massage. This work was very rewarding as I spent time working on many athletes coming straight from workouts or heading right into workouts. Through massage they could see measurable difference in their performance and comfort.
Work at a chiropractic clinic in Chicago, IL during a time that I was the only certified prenatal massage therapist meant that I worked on all of the prenatal clients in a clinic that specializes in chiro[ratic for pregnancy. I worked at a chiropractic clinic in Chicago, IL that specialized in prenatal chiropractic and massage. As the only prenatal certified massage therapist in the building I was able to work with many prenatal clients. Working with prenatal clients is very rewarding as you are able to offer those 60 -90 sessions of total relaxation for mothers-to-be while getting to the typical tricky areas of discomfort that tend to be in the hips, low back, and shoulders.
Since moving to Oakland, CA. I've been working at Piedmont Spa as one of their eighteen massage therapists. The spa is very much like a family with many clients who've been coming for 30-40 years (opened in 1980). We have many types of clients and I have had clients coming in for grief massage, prenatal massage, sports (PNF, assisted stretch, trigger point, myofascial), general relaxation, reflexology for specific medical conditions (seeking complimentary care), MS, fibromyalgia, anxiety, depression, stress, and more specific deep tissue work. I continue to enjoy working at Piedmont Spa.
The accelerated class Massage for Cancer is approved by the California Massage Therapy Council and the Board for Registered Nursing. We were taught by Kim Thompson who has been an oncology massage therapist for twenty years and worked with cancer patients during our studies. The course was comprehensive. To be able to provide caring and gently massage while keeping in mind the specific safety protocols for this population is incredibly rewarding. I am pursuing the title of preferred practitioner with the Society for Oncology Massage and a volunteer opportunity with Charlotte Maxwell Cancer Clinic in Oakland.
