After 20 years of working behind a desk, I have traded my laptop for a massage table. Years ago, I began my career as a Corporate Trainer after graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Business from Bryant University. I continued working in various Human Resources positions until I discovered a new path in Healthcare Information Technology. There I used my knowledge of employee training to assist in Medical Record conversion projects. But eventually, my passion to work with people rather than behind a computer led me to follow an entirely different path. Having been a massage client for at least 30 years, my interest in massage as a career became a reality when I decided to study Massage Therapy at Bancroft in Worcester and put an end date next to my Corporate career on my resume.
This decision came after earning my Yoga Teacher certification. After doing some reflection on my personal and professional goals, I decided to finally pursue my dream of becoming a Massage Therapist. Knowing what massage has done for me as an integral part of my own healthcare, I wanted to have the knowledge and skills to offer that alternative treatment option to others. For me, massage has always been a source of relief from painful symptoms stemming from arthritis and other limiting joint issues. I hope to bring that same relief to my clients, whether it be treatment of chronic pain, a degenerative condition or an injury, or simply providing the body and mind a total relaxation experience.
In addition to traditional massage techniques, I am also trained in Thai Bodywork and recently completed a course in Manual Therapy for Voice and Swallowing Disorders. I hope to incorporate these modalities into my practice. As a lifetime learner, I will always be curious and eager to learn more about the challenges my clients face and what I can do to help.
Besides Yoga, my passions encompass most things outdoors; hiking, walking/touring especially near the water and historical sites, and travel, and in the winter, ice skating. I love to sew and cook. I have two children; son, Jake is a wind turbine tech in Wyoming and daughter, Alyssa is a speech pathologist. I've been a proud resident of RI all my life.
If you are new to Essential Health, please feel free to contact me directly to schedule an appointment. My direct line is (401)868-1028 and you can either call or text your request. If texting, include your full name. If you are not new to EH, you can book online anytime.
COVID-19 Safe: The safety and well-being of my clients is my highest concern. In addition to my thorough cleaning practices, my treatment room is equipped with a HEPA air purifier. I will be masked and I ask my clients to be as well. I will not come to work sick with Covid or any other illness symptoms and I expect my clients to do the same.
If you feel COVID 19 symptoms the day of your massage, I will gladly reschedule
you into a future appointment if you call me at 401-868-1028 *before* your
scheduled massage. Please stay home if you are symptomatic.
Let’s reduce each other’s risk as best we can while continuing to live our
lives.
