I believe massage should be both vigorous and slow depending on the type of muscle and person. Vigorous massage helps increase circulation brings blood oxygen and food to the muscles while deep slow massage helps to release deeper connective tissue trigger points and calms the nervous system. I use all these techniques in my massages.
