After more than a decade in social work and community health, I decided to pursue a new calling. Given the various ways that yoga and massage improved my overall wellness, I quickly learned that these types of bodywork would become an important part of my life. Wanting to share these benefits, I began yoga teacher training under the careful tutelage of Glenn Brown, founder of Lionflow Yoga, and saw a marked difference in how I felt within my body and mind. I also began receiving bodywork regularly and envisioned combining massage with yoga as a holistic service.
Following this path, I began working toward becoming a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) and enrolled at the Louisville School of Massage. As I continued my journey, I began training in Thai Bodywork through the Vedic Conservatory, Thai Healing Massage Academy, and Robert Gardner Wellness. As I knelt on a mat during my first workshop, palm slowing rising and falling with the breath of a kindred spirit, I became overwhelmed by the beautiful confluence of life events: living in Thailand, working on issues of community health, practicing yoga, and massage therapy. I embraced this moment of stillness in the frequent whirlwind of thoughts and felt a peace that brought tears to my eyes.
"Strange is our situation here upon earth. Each of us comes for a short visit, not knowing why, yet sometimes seeming to a divine purpose. From the standpoint of daily life, however, there is one thing we do know: That we are here for the sake of others...for the countless unknown souls with whose fate we are connected by a bond of sympathy. Many times a day, I realize how much my outer and inner life is built upon the labors of people, both living and dead, and how earnestly I must exert myself in order to give in return as much as I have received.” - Albert Einstein
