In my family we always massaged each other. I would rub dad's feet after work or walk on his back. Mom would massage my back and shoulders. I had neck and back pain since I was very young. I also dealt with anxiety and stress from an early age. When I was 7 yrs old I had a seizure and ended up in the hospital. The doctors couldn’t find anything and said it must just be stress. I also dealt with sever headaches. My mom took me to a chiropractor. Which helped a lot and also she would massage me...
Which helped a lot and also she would massage me. I came to appreciate the power of touch.
When I was 11 my best friend’s dad, who was a drafter and worked at a computer all day, asked her to massage his neck and shoulders because he was in pain. She didn’t want to spend much time or effort to help. Knowing how helpful massage could be I said that I would help. This became a habit, whenever I was at their house he would give me all the change in his pocket to massage his shoulders and feet. After some time, I started to be able to feel things in the muscles. I could feel heat and tightness. I started to realize patterns in pain. I could, in a sense, feel where people were in pain.
At 12 yrs old my best friend’s dad said to me, “Did you know that people make a living at doing massage?” I thought this was amazing. I loved massage. I loved helping people feel better. I love how massage helped me function better. So I ran home and told my mom that I wanted to be a Masseuse. She must have thought that I had said prostitute because she was upset and said, “Do you know what kind of people they are?” No, I didn’t, I was 12. Feeling my dreams crushed I didn’t pursue massage as a career until I was 29, married and two kids later.
My husband helped me to see that I need to pursue my dream of becoming a Massage Therapist. I was working part time at an insurance agency and homeschooled our children. The massage school was a two hour drive away. I drove 3- 4 afternoons a week to school and home that night. Most of the time getting back at Midnight. Spent weekends doing clinics. One year later, I graduated top of my class and started my business.
I named my business Knot-Release Therapies because I wanted to help people to relieve all the “NOTS” in life that cause “Knots” or are caused by “Knots” in one’s body. Not being able to move properly. Not being able to work. Not being able to take care of family needs. Not feeling well. Not being able to cope with life stresses. I realized that there are many massage modalities and many different added therapies that could help. That massage was just the tip of the iceberg.
Since 2009, I’ve added Medical massage, bamboo fusion, Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy, Fit Body wrap, skin care, spray tanning, mud wraps and body scrubs and creams and supplements.
I love to see people empowered to heal. I love the healing ability of the human body. I feel that it is a wonderful creation. I feel blessed that I have been given the gift to help people live life boundless.
