Tension is who you think you should be. Relaxation is who you are. Chinese Proverb

I did not choose massage therapy. It choose me. Growing up in Gambia, my grandfather had a habit of making his grand kids massage his feet after a long day's work. I remember him pulling into the driveway and all the kids would take off running, nobody wanted to be the pick of the day. I mean, who would? For a kid that is cutting into your playtime! Not only did you have to massage his feet, you had to do it until he fell asleep. So lets say I have had plenty of foot massage exposure thanks ...

So lets say I have had plenty of foot massage exposure thanks to my grandfather!

Growing up in The Gambia I saw massage used in many therapeutic forms. When my mother was pregnant with her last child, she took a bad fall trying to hang curtains. The fall took a toll on her low back and caused her major discomfort. She would go over to my grandma's house and she soak towels in warm water and use them to apply compression to her low back to relieve the tension. As a teenager I found myself being intrigued by those techniques, I guess I know now why I was so curiosity.
As an adult in the U.S I tried my very first professional massage and was amazed at the instant results. My first massage was only a 30 minutes chair massage and it made such a difference. I felt amazing. My muscles felt so much more less tense. The tight knots in my shoulder were no longer as tense, my posture was better and even my mood had improved. I was sold. I asked the massage therapist questions about how she became a massage therapist because I was really interested in pursing the science behind massage therapy. A few years later when the opportunity arose, I was able to attend South Piedmont Community College and pursue my certification in therapeutic massage. I have been licensed since 2010 and have been actively working as a massage therapist for the past 5 years. I have a lot passion for what I do. I believe in the therapeutic benefits of massage and I want to share these benefits with all my clients.
