I began my journey to understanding bodies in motion as a dance student. Growing up in a dance studio, I became familiar with the ways our bodies adapt to creative activity, intense training, and especially the importance of recovery. I joined the International Association for Dance Medicine & Science, and began my studies in Human Performance and Exercise Science to continue investigating the three-dimensional evidence-based approach to keeping bodies in motion for a longer, stronger, healthier life. With 15 years experience as a dance educator, I have seen the benefit in training dancers with a strong foundation of optimal movement patterns, body awareness and autonomy, and a consistent wellness practice. Becoming a Licensed Massage Therapist gave me the tools to incorporate manual therapy techniques to optimize the body for movement, and I found my passion in helping dancers feel better as they move better. My bodywork incorporates concepts from Functional Movement and Neuromuscular ReEducation through deep tissue massage and stretching therapy, combined with my formal education in biomechanics, nutrition, and resistive exercise. I take on my sessions with the same investigative nature as my academic research work: using a detailed approach to help each person thrive as you move uniquely in this world!
