Practice Theory
My practice is based on an integration of ancient Chinese Medical Massage (TuiNa), acupressure, and modern western massage techniques. With a wide breadth of techniques available, you massage will be a delightful combination of techniques. I am able to adjust to any preferences you may have- when you come in for your session, we will work out a plan together.
My passion for people carries naturally into the work that I do. My previous work in the health care field included direct care of people with developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, Alzheimer’s, and dementia; I have an utmost respect for diverse populations that manifests as a drive to help those around me. No one walking into my office is ever judged. All are welcome here.
Why I Do What I Do
I love people. I want to help. And I like to think I’m very good at it.
Over the course of the past few years, I have watched how massage can be transformative. Pain changes people. Chronic pain is heartbreaking for the patient and the patient’s family and friends. I can’t promise that I will relieve your pain. But I can promise to try. I’ve watched the difference that the absence of pain can have. It’s beautiful. Whether it is a tight low back preventing sleep, chronic tension headaches, sciatica, or the pressures of a stressful situation- massage is a natural alternative or excellent companion to traditional pain relief. We will work together to design your massage session to focus on your needs.
How Did I Get Here
I walked into Massage School having never received a professional massage. I knew that I wanted to help people and I knew from my research that TuiNa(Chinese Medical Massage) was the best way I could find to begin that process. The first day that we learned a Swedish leg routine, I had to hold a nearby desk and leave the room to prevent myself from fainting. “The body is a unescapable history book.” was the advice I received from a wonderful teacher who guided me through my own past traumas. I am forever grateful to her for guiding me through it. This experience has given me a profound respect for the power of massage and a special place in my heart and practice for those dealing with their own touch traumas.
[A special note to those nervous or recovering from touch trauma: please know that I will work with you, at your pace and comfort level. Massage does not need to be intimidating- it truly is healthcare. You are always welcome to remain clothed or to have someone with you if it would help you. ]
About Me:
I love what I do. I’m passionate about massage therapy. And I am filled with gratitude just writing that about my career!
When I’m not practicing massage, you can find me with my face stuck behind a camera exploring the beauty of the world we live in with my lovely husband, two girls, and two sidekicks (dogs- Shandy and Raegan). I have a beautiful 7 year old niece and 18 month old daughter that are the light of my life. If you see us in the car- please ignore our constant dance parties. (or join us, we would love that!)
Other random facts:
I am taking pre-requisite courses in hopes of continuing on to Physician’s Assistant School in the near future.
I watch people’s gate patterns and analyze what muscles may be sore- for fun- everywhere from the mall to the zoo. Once a therapist, always a therapist!
I’m learning how to paint.
I LOVE words. I’m a writer at heart and I’m soon beginning work on a book.
I volunteer at a Women’s Shelter.
I’m learning to work out and eat a healthier diet.
I did baton as a child.
Now that you know so much about me, please set up an appointment so that I can get to know you! I can’t wait to meet you!
In health and happiness,
Natasha Kae Garbe
