Creating a Calming Space for the Body and Mind

I have always been a tactile person and not good at sitting still. I have to be able to move and needed a career where I am constantly challenged to learn. I graduated from Columbia College with a Bachelor's Degree in English Literature, but didn't see myself pursuing a career in that field.

I have always been a tactile person and not good at sitting still. I have to be able to move and needed a career where I am constantly challenged to learn. I graduated from Columbia College with a Bachelor's Degree in English Literature, but didn't see myself pursuing a career in that field.

I would often give massages to my friends and family. I really enjoyed helping people to feel better and more relaxed. An aunt of mine suggested I look into going to school for it. I looked into the program and took the plunge. I attended the Massage Therapy Institute of Missouri and graduated in December of 2007 and got my license in January of 2008.
In school I had a hard time with the sciences. They just didn't interest me much. However, when I got into massage school it was like a switch flipped. I could apply the knowledge in a physical way. My instructors were amazing. Each one brought their own styles and knowledge to the classes. Even now I can ask them for advice. They were all talented therapists and just great people.
The majority of my training has been in Neuromuscular Therapy and Sports Massage. I have also taken classes in Myofascial Release, Trigger Point Therapy, and Active Isolated Stretching. I work work with a range of clients and conditions. From chronic pain, injury, looking to improve function and movement, repetitive strain injuries, to relaxation. I see myself as a body-worker and educator. Helping my clients learn about how the body works and how what they do effects that is a huge part of what I do.
I was part of the Missouri Sports Massage Team for five years until it was disbanded. I continue to work cycling, running, and triathlon events around Missouri.
I am a Licensed Massage Therapist in the state of Missouri, am a member of the American Massage Therapy Association, and hold Certification through the National Board of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork.
It would be my greatest honor to help you on your path to wellness and self care.

Esther was very professional and gave in-depth information during our telephone conversation prior to the session. An intake form was sent electronically to save time on the upcoming appointment. An appointment reminder and directions were sent via email. Esther was very courteous and gave excellent customer service during the massage therapy session. I'm so thankful for the knowledge and skills that Esther possess, in addition to demonstrating some therapeutic moves that can be done at home. Overall, I had an amazing experience and would highly recommend Tree of Life Wellness to a friend!
