Early in
his clinical rehabilitation career, Jiri Cizek (J.C.) worked in a hospital
setting, receiving much of his professional inspiration from his mother who was
an emergency room nurse.
While
assisting in his mother’s rehabilitation after she underwent back surgery to
relieve scoliosis pain, he became deeply involved in learning about spine and
sports rehabilitation. He subsequently became certified as a fitness trainer
and opened a sports training center. Owning and operating a fitness center
turned out to be an extremely rewarding profession for J.C., where he relished
the opportunity to help athletes, as well as non-athletes, achieve their
personal goals.
When J.C.
relocated to California, he began working in clinical rehabilitation settings
where he assisted in providing care to patients with severe disabilities such
as stroke and brain injuries. He continued to pursue work as a fitness
specialist with amateur athletes who participated in endurance fundraising
events such as marathons and MS bike rides. Becoming more involved in the
Southern California community, J. C. also assisted in the organization of
several fundraising events.
As his
rehabilitation and sports training work deepened, J.C developed a strong
interest in massage therapy.
“Providing
hands-on therapy became my passion,” says J.C. “Watching people respond to
myofascial (soft tissue or muscle) treatments by experiencing immediate relief
from conditions such as headaches, shoulder, neck and lower back pain, was
extremely rewarding.”
Jiri Cizek
took his massage therapy to the next level by completing his formal
Neuromuscular Therapist (NMT) training at the prestigious Western Institute of
Neuromuscular Therapy in Laguna Hills. He continued working with medical
professionals in multidisciplinary rehabilitation settings ensuring his
patients felt comfortable, while he assisted in every aspect of performance to
maximize progress.
