In addition to being a massage therapist, I work in the medical field and have a Bachelor’s of Science in Rehabilitation Psychology. This is a degree that focuses on empowering people with physical, mental, psychological, or health disabilities and helping them find jobs, housing, and community support.

My interest in massage started when I spent a weekend with a friend and her yoga studio in the Korean mountains. We talked about human connection and the importance of touch in communication, healing, and being human. My Korean language skills were far from fluent, but there was something beautiful in learning about using touch to connect and communicate when I didn’t know all the words.

While receiving a massage from a therapist who was blind, I decided I would become a massage therapist myself. I was in Vietnam and at a spa that hired and trained people who were blind. I loved the idea of working with people’s abilities to empower them.

I have been incredibly fortunate and have lived in and traveled around South East Asia and Europe, and dipped my toes into Africa. During these trips I learned about generosity from perfect strangers, was awe-struck by the beauty of this earth, and ate the most delicious pork from street chefs.

My goal is to bring these communication skills, generosity, and awe into my daily life, and to share it with those around me. In my massage practice that means recognizing my clients as the experts on their body, letting them guide their treatment, listening to their words and to their bodies, and empowering them by sharing my knowledge.

In the future, I will be a Physical Therapist and deepen my knowledge of the human body and how it works.

I believe in learning and in science.

I have two kittens and would love an Australian Shepherd.

I am new to Hayward, but old to Wisconsin. I love the trees, lakes, rivers, and hills I live among here. I am learning to love to winter- this may take a while.

I love the outdoors.

Samantha did an amazing job! She was able to help relieve my deep tissue pain and was very patient about getting down deep into the trouble areas. She was very communicative and understanding of my personal pain issues. I will definitely refer others to her. Thanks Sam!
