Eating carefully prepared meals at home with fresh ingredients was always the norm in my family. Shopping fresh ingredients and helping in the kitchen nurtured my interest in health and well being. It was during a trip as a teen to Italy at a health resort on the beautiful island of Ischia that I became interested in Massage and hot sulfuric spring fango baths and body wraps. My Massage therapist (also named Mario) and I bonded immediately. He demonstrated his methods of bodywork which he used on professional athletes.
In 1999 I enrolled with the Massage Institute of New England in Somerville where I I learned numerous massage methods, body treatments, and was encouragement to follow my passion for the well being of others
In addition to Massage, I love to set up a spa kitchen blending fresh yogurt, fruits, vegetables, herbs, salts sugar, honey, and whatever else I can think of. for a special treatment. I am grateful for having practiced at major Boston hotels, various spas on the south shore with wonderful Massage Therapists and spa
managers.
I was recently asked to address the concern some women have with a male therapist My answer is this: There are women who prefer women and there are men who
only will have a female therapist. I can assure you I am safe and prior
to the session, I always review with the clients for clarification the
kind of massage they want and the areas of concentration--what
areas, how deep, what to avoid, any medications, recent surgeries,
injuries, illness, skin conditions, allergies. etc.
I have had
clients from the U.S. and different parts of the world while working at
hotels in Boston. I also work at MGH one-on-one with patients from kids to the
elderly with various conditions. Some quite lively. some knocking on
heaven's door. and some in between. Working at a hospital has made me more
caring and sensitive towards others as well as a deepening my faith.
I never put myself above anyone else.
All this goes hand in hand with Massage and Holistic practice. I can
understand how some women feel uncomfortable about having a male
therapist for the first time. It may just worth a try!
