Medical Massage Practicioner seeking to improve quality of life for those who are in pain

My interest in massage goes back to my early childhood when my mother first started teaching me how to 'rub her shoulders'. As I got older more family members and friends would ask for 'shoulder rubs' and I was always happy to do that for them. It gave me great pleasure to see the relief on their face when we were done. My interest in massage goes back to my early childhood when my mother first started teaching me how to 'rub her shoulders'. As I got older more family members and friends would ask for 'shoulder rubs' and I was always happy to do that for them. It gave me great pleasure to see the relief on their face when we were done. I continued to provide family and close friends massage throughout my adolescence and young adulthood until one day when a friend of mine suggested that I go to school to get my license. However, at that time the only school close enough to me to attend while maintaining a full-time job and raising two children only offered full-time classes. This was impossible since I had to maintain a job to help support my family. Another couple of years passed and then I heard an advertisement from my alma mater (Trident Technical College)who was offering a part-time program to become a massage therapist. I was thrilled and signed up for classes immediately and as the saying goes: "The rest is history."

I have been a nationally board certified massage therapist since 2003 and a certified medical massage practitioner since 2009.  My primary focus is on pain management, return of normal function and stress relief. Some of the conditions that I have worked on with successful outcomes include: fibromyalgia, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, chronic low back pain, piriformis syndrome, whiplash, as well as patients who are recovering from work related injuries, car accidents, joint replacement surgery and cancer treatments.  The modalities that I draw from in order to provide a specialized therapeutic massage session include techniques from: trigger point therapy, positional release therapy, neuromuscular therapy, medical massage therapy, Active Isolated Stretching (Aaron Mattes method) and basic Swedish massage.

I have worked in a variety of environments to include: day spas, chiropractic offices, in-home session, chair massage events for corporate health fairs and employee appreciation days, pre & post event massages for such events as the Gallabrae Scottish Highland Games and for the Davita Bike Tour.

I am currently taking appointments at the Greenville Health System's Life Center at 875 W Faris  in Greenville, SC on Wednesdays through Sunday and at the Greenville Health System's Lauren's County Memorial Hospital at 22725 Highway 76 E in Clinton, SC on Mondays and Friday afternoons

I love what I do and my focus is on improving the quality of life that my patient/clients have available to them. I am currently studying to add Physical Therapy Assistant skills to my knowledge base and this will give me more insights as to how to help my patient/clients achieve the health and wellness goals they have set for themselves.
