Massage therapy popped onto my path after 14 years as a senior software support engineer with a major software company. Massage therapy popped onto my path after 14 years as a senior software support engineer with a major software company. The evolution from the corporate world to massage therapy wove through experiences of being a caregiver for my mother in her final months, of being reintroduced to Nature through kayaking and hiking, of being introduced to a healthier way of living and of developing an awareness of the body on an energetic level through tai chi and intensive yoga teacher training.
My goal is helping you feel better and helping you heal yourself. I will work with you to find relaxation, a release of stress, and/or relief from pain. Clients have said I have a uniqueness in my touch with one gentleman stating, “it was like deep tissue massage without the pain!” My philosophy is to work with the muscles and allow them to respond naturally rather than using brute force. Attempting to force a response from the muscle can have the reverse of the intended response if the body is tensing in anticipation of a painful technique.
I am a graduate of the North Carolina Massage School where I also received certification in Clinical Neuromuscular and Structural Bodywork. My specialty is neuromuscular therapy also referred to as NMT or Trigger Point Therapy. Additionally, I am trained in the modalities of Swedish massage, trigger point therapy, sports massage, traditional Chinese cupping, Thai foot reflexology and Nuat Boran/Thai Bodywork Level I.
