My name is Amanda E. Guzman and I’m a licensed massage therapist who specializes in soft tissue manipulation. Soft tissues are body tissues that connect, support or surround organs and hard tissues. For instance, muscles, tendons, ligaments, skin, fat, vessels and nerves are all soft tissues. My sessions aim at improving the health condition within our soft tissue as well as disease prevention. Soft tissue techniques can assist in the removal of metabolic waste, sedate or stimulate nerve endings, increase or decrease muscle tone, increase or decrease muscle length, and even remodel scar tissue when required. A properly functioning lymphatic system is critical for the body to maintain homeostasis and regenerate tissue. Inflammation causes soft tissue thickening, which can also impede joint function. If lymph circulation stagnates due to injury or infection, tissues become congested and the ability of the tissue cells to receive healthy blood is compromised. This leads to an accumulation of cellular waste products in the tissues causing pain, tension, and edema. To prevent damage and promote healing, this accumulated waste and edema must be promptly removed.
