Promoting mental and physical health through relaxation and pain relief
Client-centered care is the focus of my work in massage therapy. I discuss clients' concerns, preferences, and desired outcomes at the outset of each session, and work with them to achieve their goals. I often give "homework" in the form of a small number of targeted stretches that enhance and extend the therapeutic benefits of the massage. I enjoy helping people understand the underlying causes of their aches and pains, and multi-faceted ways to reduce their symptoms.

This has given me not only an in-depth understanding of how the human body works, but also a deductive approach to understanding how best to help clients alleviate pain. On a deeper level, I passionately believe that massage offers people compassion and comfort that is invaluable to all aspects of health and well-being. Caring for people is satisfying in an immediate, daily way that my previous career was not. The idea that people feel better, and are probably happier, after seeing me makes massage therapy wonderfully rewarding!

I have a PhD in Biology from the University of Michigan, and prior to becoming a massage therapist I was the managing editor of the scientific journal Systematic Biology. My career as a biologist gives me a solid foundation for massage therapy in at least two ways: an understanding of how the human body works, and a love of solving intellectual puzzles. Each treatment session provides a chance to solve a unique problem—to figure out what a client needs, the underlying cause of the situation, and how best to alleviate it to help them achieve better health.
Caring for people is satisfying in an immediate, daily way that my previous career was not. The idea that people feel better and are probably happier as a result of interacting with me each day makes this new career path wonderfully fulfilling.
Deborah is able to change technique and pressure depending if I want a relaxing massage, deep pressure or sports related massage. Best massage therapist ever!

booked another appointment. Left there so relaxed and the knots and tension in my lower back, shoulders and neck were gone.
