Bodywork
isn’t a job to me, it is a passion. I enjoy working with my hands, I love
working with people, and I am fascinated by how amazingly complex our bodies
are. I consider it a privilege and value the trust that clients give to me to
help assist them with their therapeutic needs.
I
grew up on the other side of Illinois, in the Quad Cities. I spent so many
years trying to find the right balance of working with my hands and trying to
help people before finally finding this path. It was my introduction to Usui
Reiki Ryoho in 2003 that finally connected everything together
for me. I began my general bodywork training in January 2004 and instantly fell
in love with massage. I could not get enough of it and wanted to learn more
about the amazing healing capabilities of our bodies.
In 2007, I moved to the Chicago
area to pursue a degree in Biomedical Science from National University of
Health Sciences. My plan was to pursue Naturopathic Medicine until my discovery
of Structural Energetic Therapy® taught
me how integrating cranial-sacral and myofascial release techniques together
creates a more complete way of treating the body. I started seeing
life-changing results that I did not think were possible before learning SET’s Cranial/Structural Core Distortion Release protocol.
It made me even more fascinated with bodywork and I realized that I love
bodywork way too much to do anything else.
In April 2009, I graduated with
my Biomedical Science degree and celebrated by going to Thailand to experience
the culture and see how Traditional Thai Massage could
expand my bodywork knowledge. That trip turned into three that have allowed me
to learn from six different teachers. From the trips I gained valuable insight
into an Asian perspective of bodywork and also have been blessed with my
beautiful daughter, Areeya. I continue to make trips back to Thailand to visit
her once or twice a year.
Over 11 years later, I still consider myself a student, seeing
what new lessons there are to be learned. My training has expanded to include
cranial-sacral bodywork for special needs children (and adults) with
ADD/ADHD, Autism/Autistic spectrum disorders, sleeping disorders, seizures,
Parkinson’s disease and vertigo. I, also, have attended several John Barnes’ Myofascial Release® seminars to better understand how to unwind physical and
emotional trauma from our body. And, if that isn’t enough, I recently
added Cupping Therapy to my list of techniques
to be able to incorporate “negative pressure” myofascial release into our
bodywork sessions.
I love what I do and feel blessed to have gotten to know and help so many people. I look forward to helping you on your journey into greater health and happiness.

Massage Certification
Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Science
Since 2012, I have been attending numerous John Barnes Myofascial Release seminars including: Myofascial Release 1 & 2, Myofascial Unwinding & Rebounding, Fascial-Pelvis, Cervical-Thoracic, Quantum Leap!, Advanced Unwinding, and Myofascial Healing. I, also, partially completed the Women's Health seminar.
In December 2016, I attended the "Upper Body" class for Neural Reset Therapy
This is my ‘original’ technique that I specialized in from 2004 until I fully switched over to structural/postural bodywork (2010-ish). During the first three years of my career, my primary massage modality was the Kurashova Re-Education (KUR-ed) school of Russian Sports Massage. It can be mistaken as being a ‘Swedish’ massage but it is very different in its use of rhythm, amount of time spent on an area, and the intent and effect of every technique. It can be used as it was originally designed for, clinical use and athletic performance but, when used as a full-body massage, it is very relaxing and continues to affect the body for several hours after the session. As far as I know, I am one of the last students of its founder, Zhenya Kurashova, who was among first to bring neuro-muscular techniques here from Russia.
In 2018, I completed training to be a Certified Cupping Therapist with the International Cupping Therapy Association
I have had Level 2 Reiki certifications from two different teachers with the first occurring in December 2003. I received my Master level certification in 2008. I rarely have requests for Reiki sessions but do incorporate elements of it into bodywork sessions as needed.
I completed the 12-part training in Structural Energetic Therapy® from 2007 to 2009. SET is a hybrid modality in that it combines multiple modalities together to create specific protocols that focus on realigning the body. The primary component to it that sets it apart from most other modalities is the Cranial/Structural Core Distortion Release protocol. This protocol is best done as early as possible to release the common innate twisting of our 'core' that almost all of us have that affects our structure and physiology. Other techniques incorporated include ‘deep tissue’ massage, muscle testing to identify postural strain patterns, and breath work for emotion/energetic release.
Since 2009, I have had numerous trips to Thailand, three of which included classes in Traditional Thai Massage and other techniques from traditional Thai medicine. I have attended classes at two Thai schools, three private teachers, and having been married (but now divorced) into a Thai family that was full of therapists.
I attended two aromatherapy classes while attending, and shortly after massage school. Aromatherapy was, also, and important part of my reflexology course that I took in 2005.
In 2005, I attended a comprehensive four part course in the Ina Bryant method of Reflexology. It went well beyond the standard manual techniques to include how color therapy, homeopathy, essential oils, and cell salts affect the reflexes of the body.
