....For Your Peace of Mind and Body

My 13+ years of experience have taught me a great deal about how the body responds to massage treatment, and I tailor my approach to the client’s unique set of symptoms and needs. Specifically, I work to address tension patterns that have arisen due to chronic pain, old injuries, or new traumas to the body. I work gradually deeper into the musculature to stretch and lengthen the tightened/injured tissue.

Tell us about your primary training and any  continuing education you have done.
I am originally from Southern California, and  traveled to Northern California to attend school. I received my initial massage training at the National Holistic Institute in Emeryville, CA and became a Certified Massage Therapist in 2003. My wife and I made Eugene our home 10 years ago after visiting a friend and fell in love with the area.  Curious as to how to best serve my clients, I am always exploring different treatment options that help athletes, especially runners, recover from pains they are experiencing due to sports injuries.

What unique skills and gifts distinguish you?  How would you describe your style?
My style tends toward deeper work; in a nutshell, I work gradually deeper into your musculature to stretch and lengthen the tightened, or injured tissues.

What issues are you best at addressing with your clients?
I feel my approach is best suited for addressing tension patterns that have arisen due to chronic pain or an old injury, as well as newer injuries and pain from car accidents or other trauma.

Share a little about your personal journey as a healing practitioner.  What life experiences have enriched or changed your work?
As with any therapist, my work has evolved as I have encountered and experienced different injuries and ailments with my  clients.  Having been able to help many clients back to better health over the years has taught me what works and what doesn’t (most of the time).  It is a constant learning experience from each new client, and that is something that always keeps the work fresh and interesting.

What is your definition of healing?
Healing can be defined many different ways depending on what type of work you specialize in or are seeking.  Since I am a body worker I define it as bringing the body back to a place  of sustainable functionality without pain.

What are you passionate about professionally and personally?
Building relationships with my clients and helping them get their bodies to a better place physically. Personally I am passionate about my family and being active outdoors in  just about any way I can.

What life accomplishments are you most proud of?
I am most proud of my two children.  I can’t imagine my life without them, and they have given me more joy than I could ever imagine.

How do you encourage and support clients in self-care at home?
I always encourage my clients to move their bodies since that is what they are made to do. I don’t discriminate too much in what activity I recommend, as long as they enjoy it and practice it safely. This is such a broad question, I take clients on an individual basis and figure out what kind of improvements they are able and willing to make to their activity and food regimen and encourage them in that direction.  Every client brings an individuality that must be considered when choosing how to approach self-care at home.

During this past year, I had been to about seven different massage therapists trying to find relief from my lower back pain. After the first massage with Michael, I knew I had found the perfect one. "Amazing" is not even an adequate enough description! Thank you, Michael, for getting me closer to being pain-free again!

I have been a client of Michael Jordan for some time now. He does a great job and I have absolutely no complaints. I had been a client of another massage therapist for years prior to moving here, and it took awhile to find another in a new town that compared to what I had enjoyed previously. No need to look any further. My husband is also his client and would give the same report.
