Jay was born and raised in Southern Illinois where he studied Martial Arts in the form of Karate.  After 10 years in Karate, Jay was introduced to Traditional Chinese Medicine such as Fire Cupping and Fire Therapy by a fellow Martial Artist.  After graduating High School, he left Illinois for Indiana.  He took what he learned and then used it to help his friends.  Who then suggested he learn massage therapy, so he can help others as well. As a recent graduate of the Ivy Tech Massage therapy program, Jay executed hands on application of therapeutic techniques in the student clinic. Jay completed courses in business and ethics, pathology, in depth anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, along with Swedish and Deep Tissue techniques.
Due to a birth defect that left him with a limited functioning leg, Jay spent the first 18 years of his life with frequent stays at hospitals that led to an amputation of the effected leg.  Jay always had an appreciation for those who work in the health care field and in emergency services due to his experiences as a child.
Jay always wanted to make a difference in people’s lives and to help improve their health.  In 2014 Jay enrolled in class at Ivy Tech to become an EMT.  After obtaining his certification for EMT he took a job on an ambulance doing general transfers and then worked up to working 911 calls.  In 2016, Jay started volunteering for Northern Monroe Fire Territory as an EMT and then as a Firefighter.  Then he took a job working in an ICU for a local hospital for telemetry and patient care. Jay started the Therapeutic Massage program at Ivy Tech Bloomington in the start of the year of 2018.  After graduation Jay is specializing in Medical Massage, Massage, and Fire Cupping.
Jay believes that everyone can and should enjoy the benefits of regular massage therapy.

Jay did a great job. I couldn't help him much, only indicating I appreciate the relaxation properties of massage and that I had one problem area on my back. He did a great job.

This was my first session with Jay. He is friendly and professional and put me at ease. We talked about what issues I wanted to address and he did a wonderful job. I'm happy to know that all three therapists are available when I need a massage.

Focused on areas of most discomfort and used deep pressure and joint manipulation to relieve pain that I've had for months.

Jay did an outstanding job! I am also a massage therapist and have had 100's of massages over the years. Jay's massage was one of the best I've had. He listened to where my problem areas were and addressed those very thoroughly. Very good deep tissue work!

Jay was great. He took the time to find out about and discuss my areas of concern with my back. He was thorough in explaining his plan and did a fantastic job. I’ll be returning for sure!

Did well overall. Never had a male masseuse before, but he was very professional. Would be good if he checked in on occasion throughout the massage to ask how the amount of pressure is doing.

Jay is a wonderful therapist! The fire cupping felt great and really helped my shoulder and low back. If you haven’t tried fire cupping and you like deeper tissue work, you should definitely try it out!
