Hello, and welcome to my page. My name is Jenny, and my journey here in this practice began 15 years ago. In the fall of 2005, I began my muscular therapy training at Ben Benjamin’s school in Watertown, Massachusetts; The Muscular Therapy Institute. This school focused on the therapeutic benefits of massage. Deep Tissue, Aston Patterning, Trigger Point Therapy were heavy influences in my training. In February of 2007, my class and I graduated and embarked on our own paths into the massage profession. Being young- I was career minded and I found myself working in Kennebunkport, Maine serving the patrons of The White Barn and Breakwater Inn and Spas where my education continued. I learned how I could make my deep and intentional work feel “pretty”.
In 2009, my career took a turn in the motherhood direction. Keeping few private clients over the course of 10 years, I focused on being a stay at home mother to my 3 children. Learning a new skill set of nurturing for another’s body and soul has served me well and aided me in my readiness to return to the professional field. Having gone through pregnancy, I now deeply understand the unique needs of an expectant mother and hold that position of personhood sacred. Becoming a mother taught me how much strain and pressure parents can withstand amidst the joys of their children, and how the vulnerability of letting that go is not something to be taken for granted.
So here I am now in 2020, my path returning to my work. This time my work not being just a means to an end, but a sacred calling with some wisdom in healing and holding space for others that I have picked up along the way. My practice is located at the healing center of Riverside Chiropractics in Eliot, Maine. Privately, my hours are Wednesday mornings, Monday and Thursday evenings, and Saturdays. Please message me through FB or my cell. However- If you or your loved ones are in need of Chiropractic and Acupuncture Care, I highly recommend making an appointment with Amy Nashwinter, of Riverside Chiropractic Center to receive chiropractic care, and from there muscle work with me can be incorporated into your wellness program. It will be an honor to work with you.

Deep Tissue

Deep Tissue work is done for those who are needing a more intense muscular treatment. Care is taken to minimize any discomfort to the client by being in communication with them about the depth of the work.

Myofascial Release

Myofascial Release is slow and intentional work that I usually incorporate into a treatment as a tool, rather than a modality for an entire treatment. This work is done with my hands or silicon cups designed for this purpose.

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger Point Therapy is again a tool I incorporate into a treatment, rather than a stand alone modality. Trigger points are tender areas of muscle or fascia that are painful when compressed, and may cause referral pain to other specific areas of the body that are related to that specific point. (ex, a trigger point in the SCM muscle of the neck may refer to the forehead above the eye, and/ or to the back of the head) Trigger points are often that "sweet spot" of muscle pain. To release these points a series of compress and release patterns are stimulated to the area until the area is complete.

Cupping Methods

I use Massage Cups to deepen the experience of traditional therapeutic massage. The cups can be placed in specific areas to help relieve tension, and also moved to help break up adhesions and fascial restrictions. The use of a "vacuum" helps to lift the tissue up (as opposed to compressing it) giving the tissues space to allow blood and lymph to flow more freely and ease the tissues into further balance. Most treatments with cups is complimentary as a supplement to your treatment, though treatments with only cupping is also available upon request for a gently lymphatic treatment.

Hot Stone

Enjoy a deeper relaxation with heated stones. The warmth of the stones enhances the depth of the massage while calming the nervous system to a more peaceful state of being. A treatment perfect for those weary and in need of rest. This service greatly allows the client to let their tension go and ease their minds and bodies.

Therapeutic Massage

Massage is so much more than "feeling good." A therapeutic treatment is custom tailored to your personal needs and goals with body work. There is no "routine" to this work, ensuring that your treatment is as unique and individual as you are. The work can be done deeply, lightly and anywhere in between. Those that have specific concerns such as migraines, sports (or other) injuries, fascial adhesions, severe muscular tension and many others will greatly benefit from this style of treatment that considers the kinesiology of the muscles and how they all relate to each other. A vast array of modalities are incorporated into this treatment.

Prenatal Massage

Honoring the body of an expectant mother is a privilege for me. The use of pregnancy pillows, side lying techniques and comfortable pressure connect mother and child to the work.
