Leslie Susan Kawaioni‘okekai Kaiona‘okaláni Ko (Suzi) currently serves as the Executive Director, Chairman of the Board of Directors and lead instructor of the Lomilomi, Level One, Level Two, Palliative Care and Canine Services programs for the Holistic Honu Wellness Center, winning national and international awards in the area of cultural health literacy and cultural competency as the author and facilitator of these programs. She carries forward the healing traditions of her Native Hawaiian grandfather as a traditional Native Hawaiian healer and practitioner, going through the tradition of ʻūniki (ritual graduation) as Kumu Lomilomi (specialist in Native Hawaiian touch therapies) in 2004 and Kumu Hoʻōla (specialist in Native Hawaiian traditional healing arts) in 2010. A National Board Certified and licensed Certified Massage Therapist; she holds certificates as a California Certified private postsecondary school Native Hawaiian Healing Arts Instructor and a National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB) Continuing Education Approved Provider. She served as the Chairman of the NCBTMB Approved Provider Continuing Education Committee for more than ten years before being appointed as the Chairman of the NCBTMB Nominations & Elections Task Force from 2014 to 2017. She was named Lomilomi and Cultural Practices Commissioner on this same board in 2008. She currently serves as a Section Counselor of the American Public Health Association (APHA) Integrative, Complementary and Traditional Health Practices Section and was the Chair-Elect of the APHA American Indian, Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian Caucus in 2014. She continues to develop healing techniques under the instruction of Kahuna Nui (Grand Master), Frank Kawaikapuokalani Hewett and serves as the lead contact and direct liaison between the wellness center and the kupuna/elders in Hawaiʻi.
