Who am I?

Hi, my name is Rob Magill and became a counselor because, well, I like to help people.  I have a variety of work experiences that have introduced me to people of all walks of life.  The common theme in each of these jobs was "How can I help?" I earned my M.A. in Clinical Counseling from Moravian Theological Seminary, where I learned how to integrate spirituality and psychology in meaningful and impactful ways.  I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Pennsylvania.

My Approach

I apply my education and experiences to help you be the best you that you can be. Often, a person faces several roadblocks in their life.  These roadblocks could be relational, psychological, familial, physical, energetic, or something else.  My approach is to help you better your understanding of these roadblocks to help you transform them into doorways to the new, free person you want to be.

Because of my training and experiences, I know that there can be many different approaches to healing that can be helpful.  I partner with each of my clients to find the most helpful approaches for that person.  Some people find spirituality-based or energy-sensitive sessions to be very helpful, while others find psychology-based sessions to be very helpful.  Some people find a mix of these approaches to be very helpful.  Some people may discover a need for additional therapists, and that is ok, too!  My goal is to partner with you to find what will unlock the best person you can be.

Education and Experience

I graduated from Moravian Theological Seminary with a M.A. in Clinical Counseling in 2015, from Cedar Crest College with a B.A. in Applied Psychology in 2012, and from Lancaster Bible College in 2007 with a B.S. in Bible.  I have experience working with a variety of age groups and with a variety of struggles.  I particularly enjoy working with adolescents, young adults, and first responders, and people struggling with gambling but find that I can work effectively with people from many different backgrounds.

In addition to my practice at Magill Massage and Wellness, I work at an outpatient addictions treatment facility where I work mostly with adolescents, first responders, and clients with significant anxiety and depression in addition to an addiction. I also volunteer as a member of the regional Critical Incident Stress Management team where I help first responders struggling with emotionally difficult calls.

I am currently internationally recognized as an Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor and am endorsed to counsel people struggling with the consequences of problematic gambling.
