Jered has been with Team Rehab Since the summer of 2018. He has been in and around the health care field majority of his life, but took a real interest in it around the summer of 2006. It was then that he chose to set a career path toward Massage Therapy. Jered, attended school in Portland, Oregon at East West College of the Healing Arts, where he then graduated in the spring of 2008.
While attending East West College, Jered, specialized in:
Deep Tissue: Deep Massage, is the understanding of layers of the body, and the ability to work with the tissue in these layers to relax, lengthen, and release holding patterns in the most effective and energy efficient way as possible. Deep tissue, is less emphasis on pleasure as the primary goal, and more emphasis on alternating structure and muscle restriction. This modality is commonly used for post injury clients as well as preventative treatment.
Myofacial Release: Is a manipulative treatment that attempts to release tension in the fascia due to trauma, posture, or inflammation. Connective tissues called fascia surround the muscles, bones, and organs throughout the body. Often times your discomfort can be found in this layer of soft tissue and can be mistaken for muscle discomfort.
Trigger Point: Trigger Points, are described as irritated spots in the fascia surrounding skeletal muscle. They are associated with palpable nodules in taut bands of muscle fibers. To release these irritated spots in the muscles, and prevent the development of shortened soft tissue, compression is placed on the Trigger point with your thumb, fingers, or tool, to help break up the irritated muscle tissues and place them back in to their natural lengthened position. This also allows any built up “waste” or lactic acids in the muscle to be broken up in the tissue and flow freely through the body.
All of these Massage modalities help complement each other when preformed in a single session. Jered uses these modalities the most in his sessions, and finds that manipulating the soft tissue before and after sporting events, can be extremely beneficial to both injury treatment, as well as preventative injury treatment.
