My name is August Cutrara and I love people. I am driven by a deep desire to constantly renew myself through the pursuit of the unattainable, and to join with others in the quest to explore in its fullness what it means to be human.

Massage Therapy
I worked as a Massage Therapist for Massage Envy for over 7 years, 2 of which I spent as Hiring Manager/Trainer for the massage therapy side of the business. As a Therapist I accumulated close to 8,000 hours of hands-on experience developing my craft. I specialize in injury recovery, chronic pain management, and difficult cases that have defied conventional means of treatment. The skilled yet sensitive touch which I bring to the table caused me to be one of the most requested therapists to ever work at Southpoint, and I am forever grateful for the opportunity to work there and share in the lives of my clients. As manager of sometimes more than 40 massage therapists I learned a great deal about what qualities we must cultivate within ourselves to promote the best outcomes within client/therapist relationships. I also spent much time doing rehabilitative training with new therapists, and as I experienced during my career as a Karate Instructor nothing provides new opportunities for personal growth and learning like teaching a skill to someone else.
One of the most profound things that I observed during my time as a Martial Arts Instructor is how deeply connected the mind and body are. You cannot exercise or palpate one without affecting the other. In American culture I think that we often expect to experience feelings - joy, excitement, confidence, etc. - which then lead us into the behaviors that we desire to emulate. What I have seen to be true in my life and the lives of my students is that this is a backwards way of thinking - we BEHAVE our way into the feelings that we desire. This can be difficult to accept at first, but once it has been digested we find that we have in fact embraced the ability to transform ourselves into whatever we wish to be by changing the PROCESS whereby we live our lives. Outcomes and goals are invaluable tools in our personal transformation, but it is the process through which we live our life that must change in order to facilitate the completion of the tasks we set for ourselves. I help people change the process through which they live their lives, the vehicle through which I do it is Massage Therapy.
