I was drawn to massage when I was in junior high to provide pain-relief for a friend who did rodeos. She had severe shoulder pain do to her excessive hours of swinging a rope above her head. I found my hands could intuitively seek out the tender spots and tame them. I enrolled the massage therapy program at Lake Superior college after learning about the program from the students I waited on daily when managing the college's Coffee Spot. The college made the decision to close the coffee shop and the loss of my beloved job was devastating until I realized the door had been opened for me to pursue a new career outside of the restaurant industry. My path became obvious as things fell into place for my enrollment. The classes have been a joy, sharing the day's triumphs with 19 other dedicated students who became as close as family. We completed over 600 hours of coursework, including myofascial release, NMT, deep tissue, hot stone, pregnancy, infant, sport, lymphatic, and geriatric massage techniques. I can provide stress-relief, pain reduction, increase mobility, and promote a general sense of well being. I will send you home with stretches to perform at home to increase the effectiveness of the massage which helps you feel better, for a greater period of time. My other hobbies include yoga (I am a 200-hour certified Hatha yoga teacher), fiber art (I have a BFA with an emphasis in graphic design from UMD), reading (I am a speed reader!), and caring for my son and many pets (a 12 year old son named Solomon, two olde English bulldogges, a potty-trained snowshoe cat, and a giant angora rabbit).
